Is there anyone who enjoys both the English and Japanese versions?

I seem to find online that most fans of the Japanese version hate the English dubs and most dub fans either hate or don't care for the Japanese version. My favourite version is the Funimation dub but I do also like the Japanese version because it's the original and there are less plot holes. I largely prefer the Funi dub due to the Faulconer score although I also like some of the tracks by Kikuchi in the Japanese version.

I've seen a lot of people say that they could no longer watch the English dub after seeing the Japanese version because they feel the Japanese version is so much better. I haven't personally seen the Japanese version in full but I have seen plenty of it such as the Saiyan saga, the Frieza saga, some of the Cell saga and the movies. I can see certain areas were the Japanese version is better like having silent moments and more consistency and less plotholes but I'm still primarily a dub fan.

My question is does anyone else actually enjoy both equally or at least likes one more while still enjoying the other.
"The future of Gohan. The Future of Chi Chi. Not to mention the future of the entire universe. It all depends on me!!!! And I don't care if you're a million times stronger than me! I'm not going to let them down! So get ready Frieza because this time you're going Down!!!"

I try to watch as much English Dub as I can, but if there's only Japanese version with subs like Yo Son Goku and His Friends Return, I don't mind it being Japanese.

Well i'm not fully accustomed to both dubs, since as a Portuguese I started to see DBZ in our dub, but in general I prefer the Japanese version, mainly because of the soundtrack and the voice actors. In Japan they give a lot of heart and emotions to their characters, it's rare to see a bad voice in a character. Funimation voices are very nice though. Talking about soundtracks, I personally prefer the Japanese soundtrack, because I am more used to it, since our dub worked with the Japanese soundtrack (they picked the show from the French Dub). However, some Bruce Falcouner tracks are very cool, like SSJ3 Goku's Theme, Vegeta Powers Up (my favorite), Gohan vs Freeza, Goku's SSJ Transformation and so.
Btw, Funimation Kai is way better than Funi DBZ version. More professional.

So, Japanese Dub > English Dub, imo.

I've watched both English dubbed and Jap subbed, I prefer the dubbed though but I like the Jap version just as much

I'm just a piece of trash.. but there are things I learned. The hole in your heart is something other people can fill.
If you reject your friends' feelings and this world..
Just because something didn't go as you wished, no one will ever come to you.
And so that hole won't be filled either, if you just run away without doing anything people won't do anything for you either..
As long as you don't give up, you can still be saved

I definitely prefer the Japanese version, but I'll watch the English version if I have to. As far as any other anime go, I'm a snobby subbed purist.

No

I can't stand some of the voices in the Japanese dub.

I've been watching Kai recently and I much prefer that over the original FUNimation dub

Grew up watching Ocean. In retrospect it's a load of bollocks minus a few voices.

With me it's kinda like this:

Kai Dub > Remastered Dub > Original Funi Dub > Japanese Dub > Ocean Dub.

I've only watched Kai once though, I like the filler stuff from the Original version a lot.

I like both. I prefer the Eng dub of DB but MAYBE the Jap version for Z. I only prefer the Eng dub if it's Kai.

Edit: I also like the Spanish dub very much, since that is what I grew up with as well as the original Funimation dub. So for me, the pecking order of how I prefer DB/Z goes like this:

DBZ Kai Uncut Eng dub > DB Eng dub uncut > Spanish DBZ Dub > Remastered Funimation DBZ dub > Original DBZ Japanese version > DB Kai Japanese uncut > Original Funimation DBZ Dub

I can't stand the Japanese version for the simple reason that Goku's voice is terrible. The other characters are fine but a bad main character blows the whole deal. I like Funi dub I guess because I grew up on it. Ocean is good in the Saiyan saga but went downhill.

I'd strongly disagree on the Goku bit.

Goku meh, his Japanese adult voice is something I have mixed feelings about. I'll just say I'm neutral about it and that I prefer Japanese overall for just about every other voice anyways. Then Kai, then the original funimation. I'm cool with any of em though, might be biased towards Funi since I first saw that though.

If I go for accuracy I generally just read the manga, so I don't really care how accurate the anime is. I tend to watch the Funimation dub because it has an awesome sound track, and I don't have to read subtitles on the bottom.

I watched Funi and Ocean growing up so I have the preconceived notion that Goku is supposed to have, maybe not tough but at least masculine sounding voice. I see how the voice of Goku fit him while a kid but as an adult is seems terribly wrong, far too childish and of course voiced by a woman!

I tend to watch the English dub mostly because that was what I grew up watching (most of what we got over here WASN'T FUNimation, though), power of nostalgia, and so on. And also, I tend to do things like draw or write while I'm watching, so subtitles really aren't practical for me ... and because I STILL watch it sometimes with my dad, I know that he'd refuse to watch anything else. He already complains about the voices being different. o_o Hell, he complained about the voice changes in Kai. xD

That said, I have been doing a lot of comparisons between the Japanese and English versions as of late (because I get bored easily and have nothing to do, and also, it keeps me entertained), and do plan to watch the entire series in Japanese ... once I have the entire series. Hearing Goku's Japanese voice for the first time wasn't really a shock for me, though. And I do think it would be really interesting. Besides, I watched most other animes in Japanese first. Just a matter of circumstance, I guess ...
Oh, look. Another personal blog about writing. Whatever.
